We worked with ArcGIS Online, learning/reviewing some basic Web GIS skills.                                                    ...

Remote Sensing Lab 5

Image
Goal and Background                   In this lab, we learned about spectral signatures of several images of surface features captured by satellite. We analyzed them specifically by working with interpretation and measurement techniques. We also learned how to capture spectral signature and perform analysis on them to determine if the passed our spectral separability tests after graphing them. In the later part of the lab, we learned how to analyze band ratios to determine the health of vegetation.  Methodology I first opened a new Erdas Imagine window and created a lab 5 folder. Then, I opened the image: eau_claire_2000.img image. After doing this, I was instructed to collect spectral signatures from each of the twelve materials and surfaces provided in the lab exercise. To do this, I clicked on the drawing button, polygon , and then drew a shape on each surface I desired. I then clicked on raster , supervised , and...

Remote Sensing Lab 4

Jeff Gibbs Remote Sensing Lab 4 blog 5/14/2020 Goal and background:          Over the course of this lab, I was instructed to learn and practice numerous techniques related to image manipulation in remote sensing. Among these skills were subsetting an image, image fusion, working with radiometric enhancement, connecting satellite images to google earth, resampling satellite images, image mosaicking, and graphical modeling.  Methodology: First, to learn about image subsetting, I used an image and shapefile of Eau Claire. I overlaid the image onto the shapefile and saved it as an AOI file. I then clicked Raster, and Subset and Chip to create a subsetted image. Next, I followed steps to perform image fusion between two images: ec_cpw_2000.img and ec_cpw_2000pan.img. I added both images to a new Erdas Imagine. After this, I clicked Raster, Pan sharpen , and Resolution merge. I put in the appropriate settings, saved the new image in my lab 4 fo...

Lab 3

(still adding figures and sources) Lab 3 Goal and Background In this lab, students learned to customize the web app that was built and published on ArcGis Online in lab 2, as well as how to customize the app in Web AppBuilder. Methodology Part 1: Students logged on to Organization in ArcGIS Online and navigated to My Content . We then clicked Create – Using the Web AppBuilder to create a new app. The title of Natural Disasters of the United States_Student’sLastName was given. Tags of earthquakes and hurricanes were assigned and an appropriate one sentence summary was given. We then clicked OK to launch the Web AppBuilder for ArcGIS. We then clicked the Map tab, followed by the Choose Web Map button and selected our Natural_Disasters_Student’sLastName from lab 2 and clicked OK . We clicked Use Web Map’s Default Extent under Set Initial Extent . We selected the Foldable Theme and then chose a style and layout; followed by clicking Save . We then clicked the Wi...
